Ted Earley Award

The Ted Earley Award is the highest honor CABO can bestow on one of it's
members. It is named in honor of Ted Earley of Ontario, CABO'S first President
and a driving force in setting up the National Organization.
Criteria for the Ted Earley Award:
The
nominee is recognized as a superior floor official.
Significant
length of service.
Varied
forms of service at the National and International level.
Administrative-Leadership
role
nterpretive-Educative
role
Nominated
by the Province.
Since
the inception of CABO only two individuals from British Columbia have been
given the Ted Earley Award.

National / Provincial - "Wink" Willox Award

The
Wink Willox Award is an honor CABO can bestow on a provincial level. The Wink
Willox award can only be given to one CABO member in "each" province in a given
year, Where as only one CABO member in any province can be award the Ted Earley
Award in a given year. The National Wink Willox award is named in honor of J.A.
"Wink" Willox of British Columbia, a driving force in establishing a standard
for officiating in Western Canada. |
Criteria for
the "Wink" Willox:
• Good floor official by local standards.
• Significant length of service.
• Varied forms of service.
• Administrative role
• Nominated by the Province.
Provincially
the BCBOA recognizes the "OFFICIAL OF THE YEAR" through its Wink Willox award.
The award is based on the same criteria used to select the national award
winners. It is possible for an official to be awarded both the National and
Provincial Wink Willox award, this can happen in the same or in different
years. The provincial award is presented in conjunction with Basketball BC at
their annual awards dinner.

Ritchie / Nicurity Scholarship Award
These scholarships were created to honor Bill Ritchie of New Brunswick and
Bryan Nicurity of Saskatchewan, both of whom are past Presidents of Cabo and
Ted Earley Award recipients. Currently there are 6 - $500.00 scholarship
available on a yearly basis. |

Criteria for the Ritchie / Nicurity
Scholarship Award
 |
Applicant
must be a registered member in good standing of a Provincial Association and of
CABO.
|
 |
Scholarships
are available to both male and female applicants.
|
 |
Financial
need is not a factor.
|
 |
Produce
a letter signed by a Provincial Executive member to certify the applicant is a
member in good standing.
|
 |
Produce
a student ID certifying the applicant is a full time student at a University,
College or Cegrep.
|
 |
Students
entered in trade apprenticeship or upgrading programs are eligible but must
verify full-time status.
|
 |
Applicants
can hold other scholarships or bursaries in conjunction with the CABO
scholarship.
|
 |
Applications
must be received; by the CABO judging committee by August 15th of the given
year.
|
 |
Student
officials wishing to apply for a scholarship should request an application form
from their Provincial Association who in turn will verify the application and
forward it to the CABO judging committee.

Life members are regular, associate or former members of the BCBOA who, in the
view of the membership, have made an outstanding contribution to the
Association. It shall require a majority vote of the members present at a
regularly constituted BCBOA meeting for approval of life membership. The
